Royal Caribbean International has announced plans to include Cabo Rojo, Dominican Republic, as a new destination starting in October 2024.

In communications sent to guests, the cruise line revealed that several of its ships will begin visiting the Caribbean’s newest port. “To provide you with the best experience, we’ve added a brand-new port to our itinerary,” the company shared in one of the guest notices.

Royal Caribbean also expressed excitement about the new destination, stating, “You and your travel party will be the first to experience this beautiful destination, and we’re excited to sail with you.”

The first ship to visit Cabo Rojo will be Adventure of the Seas, which will make its debut call on October 16, 2024. Departing from Port Canaveral, the ship, which holds 3,340 passengers, will stop at Cabo Rojo as part of an eight-night itinerary through the Southern Caribbean and Bahamas.

In addition to Cabo Rojo, the cruise will visit Aruba, Curaçao, and Perfect Day at CocoCay. To accommodate the new stop, Royal Caribbean has shortened its planned visit to Curaçao, which will now run from 7 AM to 4 PM.

Cabo Rojo is described by the company as a destination boasting “beautiful beaches, turquoise waters, and preserved coral reefs.”

Starting in May 2025, Oasis of the Seas will join Adventure of the Seas in making regular stops at Cabo Rojo.

The new port, developed by the Dominican Port Authority (APORDOM), saw its first-ever cruise ship, the Norwegian Pearl, on January 7, 2024. It features a 200-meter dock and can accommodate multiple vessels at once. Other cruise lines, including Holland America Line, Costa Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, and MSC Cruises, are also scheduled to visit Cabo Rojo in 2025.
