Fire Breaks Out on Bulk Carrier in Amsterdam Port

On April 17, a fire erupted in the electrical wiring of the Syros Trader bulk carrier while the vessel was docked at the West Poortweg quay in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Fortunately, all crew members were unharmed and did not require evacuation.
Emergency responders acted swiftly, deploying three fire engines and a cherry picker to tackle the blaze. The fire brigade successfully contained and extinguished the flames, minimizing any further risk or damage to the ship.
A police patrol boat, Kokmeeuw, also arrived on site, likely to support safety and coordination efforts in the port area.
The Syros Trader is a Liberia-flagged bulk carrier built in 2008. The vessel has a deadweight capacity of 53,408 tonnes and measures 189.94 meters in length and 32.29 meters in width.
