HSM Wins Substation Contract for East Anglia Two Wind Farm

ScottishPower Renewables, a subsidiary of Spanish energy group Iberdrola, has awarded a key contract to HSM Offshore Energy for the East Anglia Two offshore wind project.
The agreement covers the engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning of both the offshore substation and its jacket foundation. HSM will be responsible for delivering the 5,100-tonne high-voltage substation and the accompanying 3,700-tonne jacket structure for the site located off the Suffolk coast.
Preliminary engineering work began in the summer of 2024 under an early work agreement. Full-scale construction is scheduled to begin in the final quarter of 2025. The jacket is expected to be ready for installation by the third quarter of 2027, with the topside set to follow later that year.
Situated in the southern part of the North Sea, the East Anglia Two wind farm will be positioned roughly 33 km from Southwold and 37 km from Lowestoft at its closest points to the shore.
Once operational, the wind farm is projected to generate up to 960MW of clean energy—enough to supply around 950,000 homes. The total investment in the project is estimated at £4 billion (approximately $5.1 billion).
East Anglia Two follows in the footsteps of the East Anglia One development, in which Octopus Energy recently acquired a 10% ownership stake.
