Crew Member Found Deceased on Cruise Ship in Crete

A 49-year-old crew member was found dead aboard a cruise ship docked at the port of Chania, Crete, according to several Greek media sources.
The deceased, a Filipino national serving as a cook on a UK-flagged vessel, was discovered unconscious in his cabin during the early hours of April 26, the Hellenic Coast Guard confirmed. Despite immediate efforts to revive him, he was declared dead at the scene.
In a statement, the Hellenic Coast Guard said:
“Chania Port Authority was informed by the shipping agent of a UK-flagged cruise ship (C/Z) that a 49-year-old foreigner (Philippine national), a crew member (specialty cook), was found unconscious in his cabin.”
The Chania Port Authority is leading the initial investigation into the incident and has ordered an autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.
Authorities have not officially named the cruise ship involved. However, based on cruise tracking information, the only UK-flagged ship present at the port of Chania on April 26 was the Majestic Princess, which is currently sailing a 10-day itinerary from Civitavecchia (Rome) to Trieste.
