Three Australian passengers aboard the Quantum of the Seas were medically evacuated in two separate rescue missions during the ship’s eight-day journey through the South Pacific. The evacuations, coordinated by the maritime gendarmerie patrol boat of the Armed Forces in New Caledonia, took place on Wednesday, February 19. All three individuals were transported to Médipôle for urgent medical attention.

The first emergency call came on Tuesday evening as the Quantum of the Seas neared Noumea. By 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, the patrol boat had reached the vessel and quickly transferred the first patient ashore for treatment.

As the cruise ship was preparing to leave the lagoon, another medical emergency arose. The maritime pilot on board contacted the Operational Surveillance and Rescue Centre (COSS), reporting that two more passengers needed immediate medical assistance. Following a remote medical evaluation, the patrol boat was dispatched once again, successfully completing the second evacuation by 10:30 a.m.

All three passengers were safely taken to Médipôle, where they received medical care. The Quantum of the Seas has since continued its voyage.
