A fire broke out on the Swedish general cargo ship Sofia following an explosion on November 28th, prompting the crew to abandon the vessel.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:20 PM local time, about 50 kilometers east of Bornholm Island. The crew immediately issued a distress signal. A Swedish rescue helicopter was the first to arrive on the scene and successfully evacuated all five crew members by around 11:00 PM.
