Zaandam Sets Sail After Refurbishment for Amazon Voyage

Holland America Line’s Zaandam departed Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on February 8, 2025, embarking on a 27-day “Amazon Explorer” Legendary Voyage following an extensive two-week drydock at Grand Bahama Shipyard.

The refurbishment included enhancements to guest spaces, spa and fitness facilities, the library, the Photo Gallery, and the exclusive Neptune Lounge.

Upgrades to Spa & Fitness Facilities

The Greenhouse Spa & Salon received a full renovation, introducing a redesigned thermal suite with an infrared sauna, Caldarium steam room, and experiential rain shower.

The relaxation lounge now features new seating and a beverage station, while the salon was refreshed with new manicure stations, pedicure thrones, chairs, and shampoo basins. Accessibility improvements were also implemented across the spa and salon.

Meanwhile, the Fitness Center was modernized with updated interiors, a custom storage area, and remodeled bathrooms.

Library and Creative Spaces Revamped

The Library was reimagined with a contemporary layout and an expanded book collection. The Explorations Café was redesigned as a multi-use area, incorporating puzzle and game tables. Additionally, a new Art Studio was introduced, offering guests dedicated space for arts and crafts workshops such as painting, origami, and crochet.

Photo Gallery & Neptune Lounge Enhancements

The Photo Gallery now features an upgraded display area and an advanced facial recognition system, allowing guests to conveniently access their digital photos. A new Signature Studio was also introduced for private photography sessions and personalized photo viewings.

The Neptune Lounge, an exclusive space for Neptune and Pinnacle suite guests, received new flooring, an upgraded food service station, a redesigned concierge desk with improved seating, and a larger television.

Following its Amazon Explorer voyage, Zaandam will transit the Panama Canal, visit multiple Mexican ports, and later reposition for Holland America Line’s Alaska season.
