Amid increasing security issues and a surge in street violence in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Evergreen has announced a halt to all its ship visits to the port until the situation stabilizes.

This decision by the Taiwanese shipping firm also includes a suspension of accepting any new cargo bookings to or from Haiti for an indefinite period.

"Under the current situation in Haiti, we suggest our clients consider the potential impact on the cargo and the additional costs involved. For cargo in transit, if Change of Destination (COD) is an option for you, our local teams are always available and happy to support you," Evergreen communicated in a release.

Evergreen emphasized its commitment to closely monitor the developments in Port-au-Prince as the circumstances unfold.
