Vietnam’s Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port (HHIT), the country’s most modern deep-water port, has officially launched operations, marking a significant milestone in Vietnam’s maritime industry.

The port welcomed its first commercial vessel, ESL Dubai, on February 6, followed by the arrival of MSC Aurora on February 13. The Aurora the largest container ship to ever dock at Hai Phong Seaport, showcasing HHIT’s capability to handle large-scale international trade.

Covering 73 hectares, HHIT features a 900-meter-long wharf with depths ranging from -16.8 to -18.4 meters. It is designed to accommodate two large container ships of up to 400 meters in length simultaneously.

Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, HHIT boasts STS cranes, a NANIS N4 operations system, e-RTG systems, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, a 5G network, and advanced surveillance cameras. The automated gate system, featuring OCR and RFID technology, further enhances operational efficiency and accuracy.

The arrival of MSC Aurora underscores HHIT’s growing role in global shipping networks. The vessel is part of the CHINOOK service route, which provides direct connections between Vietnam, the United States, and Canada, strengthening trade between these regions.
