The Vietnamese-flagged ship, An Binh Phat 68, sank in the South China Sea off the coast of Quang Nam province, Vietnam.

The vessel, which was carrying 4,000 tons of powdered stone, was passing through waters near Quang Nam Seaport when it encountered trouble.

At approximately 1:42 PM local time on September 18, the Quang Nam Port Authority received a distress signal from the ship, reporting that it had tilted 45 degrees and providing its location.

In response, the Quang Nam Port Authority alerted the Regional Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center, the Quang Nam Border Command, the regional coast guard, and nearby agencies to initiate a search and rescue mission. The ship's captain was instructed to close all fuel tank valves to prevent potential environmental pollution.

By September 19, reports confirmed that the vessel had fully sunk, but all eight crew members were successfully rescued by the Vietnamese Coast Guard.
