Crew Boat Collides with Wind Turbine at Hornsea 1 Wind Farm

An accident occurred on September 19th when the crew boat Wind of Hope collided with a wind turbine at Ørsted’s Hornsea 1 Wind Farm off the east coast of England.

The incident took place at approximately 6:38 AM local time, resulting in damage to the vessel's starboard side above the waterline. The wind turbine base also sustained some damage. 

At the time of the collision, 26 crew members and 46 specialist personnel were aboard the vessel, but fortunately, there were no injuries. Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA), the owner of Wind of Hope, confirmed that no pollution was caused by the accident.

Built in 2021, Wind of Hope is an 83-meter-long crew boat registered under the French flag, with a carrying capacity of 2,000 tonnes and a draught of 5 meters. According to data, the vessel is currently docked in Grimsby, United Kingdom, where it is being inspected to assess the damage and plan repairs.
