Ultramax Newbuild Contract Won by China's New Dayang

Chinese shipbuilder New Dayang has clinched new orders for ultramax bulk carriers from China Construction Bank (CCB) Financial Leasing.

This agreement includes two guaranteed ships based on the Crown 63 Plus model, which will be under the operation of Bohai Shipping (Hebei) following their completion, expected to commence in late 2026.

Situated in Jiangsu, the shipbuilding division of the governmental machinery producer Sumec Group has also reconfirmed an intent letter with Bohai Shipping for an additional two ultramaxes, adhering to the same design specifications.

Sumec, which acquired Dayang Shipbuilding in 2018, announced that this recent contract has expanded its order book to 63 vessels, with production anticipated to continue through the fourth quarter of 2027.
