StormGeo, a Norwegian weather intelligence company and a subsidiary of Alfa Laval, has acquired the remaining shares of Climatempo, a weather forecasting firm based in Brazil.

Initially, in 2019, StormGeo secured a majority 51% share in Climatempo. By 2023, the Bergen-headquartered company had increased its stake to 89.66% by purchasing an additional 38.66%. With this recent acquisition, StormGeo now completely owns the Brazilian company.

StormGeo believes this acquisition will bolster its presence in the South American market, offering enhanced services to its Brazilian clientele. Climatempo will maintain its brand identity and continue its operations within Brazil as a part of StormGeo.

Kim Sørensen, the CEO of StormGeo, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “This is an exciting and logical next step in our association with Climatempo and an important move towards becoming a market-leading technology provider for weather-sensitive industries in Latin America.”
