A Russian missile attack targeted Ukraine’s Chornomorsk port on October 9, resulting in the deaths of six people and injuring eight others. Among the casualties, four individuals are reported to be in critical condition, according to Oleh Kiper, the regional governor of Odessa. All of the injured are Ukrainian nationals.

The missile, aimed at port infrastructure, also caused damage to the Panamanian-flagged container ship Shui Spirit, a nearby pharmacy, and ignited several fires in the area. This strike marks the third such assault on Ukrainian port facilities within the last four days.

In the days leading up to this attack, similar incidents occurred, including a missile strike on a vessel docked at Pivdennyi port on October 6 and another on a ship at Odessa Port on October 7. Ukrainian authorities allege that these strikes are part of Russia's efforts to destabilize the Ukrainian grain corridor and inflict economic damage on the region.
