Originally scheduled to operate in Asia, the Ovation of the Seas will now offer cruises departing from Los Angeles during the summer of 2025. The ship had been slated to sail out of China next summer.

Royal Caribbean International’s President and CEO, Michael Bayley, announced the redeployment on Tuesday. During a Q&A session with travel agents aboard the new Utopia of the Seas, Bayley disclosed that the Quantum-class vessel is set to sail from Los Angeles starting on May 28, 2025.

The Ovation of the Seas will join the Navigator of the Seas in the West Coast market, offering three-, five-, and six-night itineraries through late September.

Vicki Freed, Royal Caribbean International’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Trade Support and Services, was also present during the announcement, which took place during Utopia’s inaugural festivities.

Operating on the West Coast since 2022, the Navigator will continue to sail from its homeport in Los Angeles. Maintaining its year-round presence in the region, the Voyager-Class ship offers three- to seven-night cruises to Southern California, Baja Mexico, and the Mexican Riviera.

Previously, the Ovation of the Seas was set to become Royal Caribbean's second vessel in China for the 2025 summer season. With the Spectrum of the Seas sailing from Shanghai, the 2016-built vessel was scheduled to serve the Chinese market with itineraries departing from Tianjin.

The Ovation of the Seas is expected to return to Asia for the 2025-26 winter season, offering itineraries departing from Singapore. Additionally, the Quantum of the Seas will reposition to Los Angeles in 2025. After completing a summer program in Alaska, the ship will spend the winter on the West Coast.

The Quantum’s deployment program includes 11 itineraries to Baja Mexico and the Mexican Riviera.
