British ferry and logistics company P&O Ferries has deepened its partnership with Danish data solutions company Netcompany by choosing to implement its “PULSE” system as part of a legacy replacement program.

The system utilizes artificial intelligence and is a modular tool designed to enhance process and workflow digitization. This upgrade aims to boost business efficiency and, over time, facilitate the adoption of new machine learning and AI-driven technologies, as per Netcompany.

A significant objective of this new system, P&O notes, is the decarbonization of its fleet. The company believes that digitizing its processes will streamline its environmental initiatives.

“We are delighted to expand our partnership with Netcompany as we enter a critical part of our digital transformation programme. Modernising our legacy systems is a key part of remaining competitive in the fast-changing ferries landscape. Netcompany has proven over the years that they prioritise service delivery at scale and have the innovative technology to enable current and future operations-sensitive initiatives,” stated Chloe Friend, P&O’s head of IT.

Netcompany indicated that the initial application of the PULSE platform will be to “build and safely deliver a minimum viable product (MVP), to provide an integration layer for both legacy applications and a new suite of business applications.”
