Lindblad Expeditions has unveiled its 2026 cruise offerings along the Upper Amazon River and in Peru, featuring sailings aboard the Delfin III.

The 42-passenger ship will be chartered for these trips, significantly increasing Lindblad’s capacity in the region. This expansion doubles the number of guests they can accommodate, from 28 on one vessel to 70 across two ships.

“The untouched wilds of the Peruvian Amazon have long fascinated intrepid explorers and modern travelers alike, making our one-of-a-kind small-ship expeditions along the Upper Amazon particularly alluring to our guests. Given the popularity of these sailings, when the opportunity presented itself to charter Delfin II’s sister ship, the Delfin III, and more than double our occupancy in the region—from one ship with 28 guests to two ships with 70 guests—we simply couldn’t say no,” said Trey Byus, Lindblad Expeditions' chief expedition officer.

Byus went on to praise the Delfin III, stating, “The Delfin III is a welcome addition to our chartered fleet; with 21 well-appointed suites wrapped in floor-to-ceiling panoramic glass, a sprawling sundeck with a whirlpool hot tub, a spa and gym, and a star-worthy menu featuring locally inspired dishes and regional delicacies, this ship will allow guests to explore one of the world’s most extreme places in extreme comfort.”

Lindblad noted that the ship’s decor will feature handmade sustainable furniture along with art and textiles sourced from the Amazon’s local communities.

The Delfin III is slated to start operations for Lindblad Expeditions–National Geographic in January 2026. It will offer six- and ten-night itineraries through jungle waterways, including the flooded forests of the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve.

In tandem with its sister ship, the Delfin II, the Delfin III will offer two new itineraries, navigating Peru’s Upper Amazon, as well as the Ucayali and Marañón rivers.

With this addition, Lindblad Expeditions now operates a fleet of 20 owned, chartered, and leased vessels.
