On July 20, Israel launched an attack on the port of Hudaydah, situated on Yemen's west coast along the Red Sea. The strike resulted in the deaths of three individuals and left eighty-three others injured.

At approximately 6:00 PM local time, the Israeli air force targeted a fuel storage facility and a power station near the main seaport. This action was in retaliation for a Houthi drone attack on Tel Aviv, which had killed one civilian and injured ten others.

The Port of Hudaidah is Yemen's second-largest port and handles around 80% of the humanitarian supplies, fuel, and other commercial goods for northern Yemen. According to the Israeli military, the port serves as a key hub for covert Iranian weapon shipments to Houthi militants.

In response to the attack on Hudaydah, a Houthi spokesperson announced their intent to retaliate. On July 21, the Houthis launched a ballistic missile at Port Eilat, located in southern Israel on the Red Sea coast. The Israeli Defense Forces reported that the missile was intercepted and did not reach Israeli territory.
