German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd has revealed plans to introduce a General Rate Increase (GRI) of US$500 per container, effective from October 1.

This new rate adjustment will apply to both dry and refrigerated containers being shipped from the East Coast of South America, including Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, to the West Coast, covering destinations such as Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Buenaventura in Colombia.

The increase will remain in place until further notice.
