Carnival Cruise Line has announced the cancellation of the upcoming Carnival Paradise cruise, originally set to sail today, Thursday, October 10. The decision comes as Hurricane Milton’s path forces closures in the Tampa Bay area.

In a statement from the company, Carnival explained that the ship cannot return to Tampa Bay as scheduled due to the impending storm. "Given the storm’s track, officials in Tampa have advised that the port will close ahead of the storm’s arrival, and we will continue to monitor the situation and provide timely updates as more details become available," the company said.

Carnival further clarified that following the storm's passage, port officials will conduct a safety assessment before allowing the ship to return. The canceled cruise was a four-night journey to the Western Caribbean, with a planned stop in Cozumel, Mexico.

Affected passengers will receive a full refund and should check their emails for further instructions and information, according to Carnival.

Similarly, the Carnival Elation, returning from a five-night Bahamas cruise, will also be unable to dock in Jacksonville as planned. Officials there have closed the port in anticipation of the hurricane. "We will continue to monitor the situation and provide timely updates as more details become available," the company added.

Other cruise lines, including Margaritaville at Sea and Disney Cruise Line, have also had to cancel sailings due to the impact of Hurricane Milton in Florida.
