A bulk carrier flying the Marshall Islands flag, the Porthos, was detained in Singapore on December 7 following a sheriff’s order.

The arrest was carried out at 3:08 PM (SGT) by Transwind Shipping, a Chinese charterer of the vessel. The Porthos had docked in Singapore after arriving from Chittagong, Bangladesh, at 1:50 PM (SGT), with the arrest taking place shortly afterward.

Sources suggest that the arrest was linked to a financial dispute concerning a charter party agreement valued at $145,000. However, the official court documents did not disclose specific details about the nature of the dispute.

The Porthos is a Supramax bulk carrier, built in 2010, and is managed by Nicholas G. Moundreas Shipping, headquartered in Singapore. The vessel measures 189.9 meters in length, 32.2 meters in width, and has a gross tonnage of 33,044.
