Nasdaq-listed Greek dry bulk owner Globus Maritime continues to modernize its fleet by selling off older vessels to make way for newer tonnage.
The Athens-based company has finalized the sale of the 2007-built supramax River Globe for $8.55 million before commissions.
At 53,627 dwt, the River Globe is the oldest vessel in the company's fleet and is expected to be transferred to its new owner between March and April.
Globus has been actively renewing its fleet over the past few years, gradually phasing out older bulk carriers. The fleet currently consists of 10 vessels.
Last year, the company, led by Athanasios Feidakis, sold its 2005-built panamax Moon Globe for $11.5 million while simultaneously expanding its fleet with two kamsarmax bulkers, Eolos G and Eolos Angel, built in 2014 and 2016, respectively. These vessels were later renamed GLBS Gigi and GLBS Angel.
Additionally, Globus Maritime welcomed three ultramax newbuilds in 2024, with more expected to join the fleet by the end of 2026 as part of its ongoing expansion strategy.
