A 4,607 dwt vessel, the Nazan, en route from Novorossiysk, experienced a rudder failure while navigating the Bosphorus Strait on November 17, causing a four-hour traffic disruption.

The incident occurred near Kandili, known as the most challenging section of the strait. The strait was closed to all maritime traffic at 18:42 GMT following the failure. Authorities promptly deployed the tugboats Kurtama 7 and Kurtama 9, which successfully towed the vessel to safety.

The Panama-flagged Nazan is now anchored at the Istanbul Anchorage in the Sea of Marmara.
