Tokyo University & ONE Offer Container Management Science Course
Ocean Network Express (ONE) has launched a Social Cooperation Program entitled "Container Management Science" in partnership with the School of Engineering at The University of Tokyo.
Initiated in April, this program represents a major step forward in addressing the complex and diverse challenges of the modern container shipping industry through a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach.
The program will unite experts from various academic fields, fostering long-term collaborations between industry and academia to develop sustainable and future-oriented solutions for container shipping.
Social Cooperation Programs act as collaborative platforms that bring together private companies, research institutions, and universities to tackle public interest issues by leveraging their combined expertise and insights.
ONE and The University of Tokyo have created the program to strengthen industry-academia collaboration while integrating knowledge from diverse academic disciplines.
By participating in this program, ONE aims to achieve sustainable container transportation by driving innovation to meet increasingly complex challenges.
These include optimizing container shipping economics (both operational and management), enhancing resilience (risk management and business continuity planning), and advancing decarbonization efforts.
Additionally, the Japanese liner operator seeks to cultivate global talent capable of understanding, evaluating, and integrating socially demanded technologies related to the container shipping industry into business operations.
