Princess Cruises Adds Second Solar Eclipse Voyage in 2026
Princess Cruises has announced a second Total Solar Eclipse voyage aboard its new Sun Princess, set to sail in August 2026, according to a press release.
The cruise line has modified the itinerary for the Sun Princess, which departs from Barcelona on August 8, 2026. This adjustment positions the ship off Spain's southern coast on August 12, where guests can witness two minutes and 18 seconds of totality during the solar eclipse.
In total, the 2026 solar eclipse offerings include six different itineraries, ranging from seven to 21-day Mediterranean cruises, departing from various well-known ports.
“Sun Princess truly lives up to its name, offering an out-of-this-world experience with a front-row seat for a total eclipse of the sun,” said John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises. “Following the incredible response to our solar eclipse voyages last year, we’re thrilled to have both Sky Princess and Sun Princess providing guests with the unique opportunity to experience one of nature’s most breathtaking spectacles.”
Bookings are now open for the Sun Princess 2026 Total Eclipse Voyage. Guests will gather on the top decks, equipped with protective glasses, to view the eclipse. There will also be astronomy lectures, themed food and drinks, and solar system trivia for passengers to enjoy.
Meanwhile, the 14-day Mediterranean Total Solar Eclipse cruise on the 3,560-guest Sky Princess will depart from Southampton and return on August 22, 2026. This trip includes a stop in Cherbourg in France, Bilbao, Malaga, Cartagena and La Coruña in Spain, plus Gibraltar and Lisbon, Portugal.
