The newly launched MSC World America has officially begun its maiden voyage to the Caribbean, following its recent arrival at PortMiami earlier this month.

Departing on April 12, 2025, from MSC’s state-of-the-art cruise terminal, the LNG-powered vessel welcomed its first paying guests for a seven-night cruise through the Eastern Caribbean. The itinerary includes stops in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and the Bahamas, with a highlight visit to MSC’s private island retreat, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.

Now based in Miami year-round, MSC World America will offer a mix of Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. In addition to San Juan and Puerto Plata, sailings will feature ports of call such as Roatán in Honduras, and Mexico’s Cozumel and Costa Maya—each itinerary also includes a day at Ocean Cay.

Prior to its first official voyage, the ship was christened during a special three-night pre-inaugural sailing on April 9, 2025. Actress Drew Barrymore served as the ship’s godmother during the ceremony, which included an overnight visit to Ocean Cay.

Constructed by the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard and delivered in late March, MSC World America becomes the second ship in MSC Cruises’ World-class series, following the MSC World Europa launched in 2022. Weighing in at 205,800 gross tons, the vessel introduces several new features tailored to North American guests.

One standout addition is The Harbour, an open-air family area that includes the Cliffhanger over-water swing ride, a ropes course, splash park, playground, and relaxing spaces with free grab-and-go dining.

Also new to the fleet is an adults-only comedy club, a dedicated sports bar, and the first-ever Eataly restaurant at sea.

MSC Cruises plans to expand the World-class series further with two additional ships: MSC World Asia, expected in 2026, and MSC World Atlantic, arriving in 2027.
