MOL Inaugurates Seafarer Manning Company In Indonesia

In August 2023, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and PT MCS Internasional, a manning company within the PT Humpuss Maritim Internasional Tbk. Group established PT McMOL Crewing International—a new joint-venture LNG carrier manning company in Indonesia. The partnership is scheduled to commence operations in April 2024, focusing primarily on supplying seafarers for the MOL Group’s LNG carrier fleet.

Effective operation of vessels transporting LNG requires the recruitment, training, and retention of highly skilled seafarers capable of handling LNG. Despite the growing demand for cleaner energy and the expanding use of LNG, there is a global shortage of qualified seafarers. The establishment of PT McMOL Crewing International aims to contribute to the sustainable provision of seafarers.

Since 1986, when MOL collaborated with the Humpuss Group to establish PT Humolco LNG Indonesia- a ship management company, MOL has been dedicated to training Indonesian seafarers.

Moving forward, the new partnership is committed to preemptively delivering stable, high-quality LNG transport services that align with the needs of its customers by using its extensive experience in supplying seafarers to MOL Group-operated vessels and its knowledge and network cultivated by MOL as the manager and operator of the world's largest LNG carrier fleet.
