Maintenance Robot Created by MOL & Other Japanese Companies

Mitsui OSK Lines, in collaboration with Sumitomo Heavy Industries and other Japanese firms, has introduced a maintenance robot designed to assist with ship inspections and maintenance.
This wall-climbing robot, which has successfully passed a demonstration test, received approval from the Japanese classification society, ClassNK.
It is equipped to reach high areas, capture images, measure the thickness of steel plates, and navigate tight spaces.
MOL, a company that has heavily invested in the research and development of autonomous shipping technologies, is preparing to deploy robots across its fleet.
Three years ago, MOL entered into a memorandum of understanding with MELTIN, a local expert in cyborg technology, to implement remotely controlled robots on its vessels.
