Maritime technology company Marcura has announced the acquisition of Shipster, a start-up specializing in AI-driven document intelligence.

Shipster focuses on automating document processing by extracting and structuring critical data from key shipping documents such as statements of facts, letters of indemnity, and bills of lading. The platform also streamlines handover instruction generation, enhancing efficiency in maritime operations.

This acquisition aligns with Marcura’s strategic push to develop AI-driven solutions that reduce time-consuming administrative tasks. By leveraging AI automation, the company aims to free up maritime professionals to concentrate on high-value decision-making.

The integration of Shipster’s technology further enhances Marcura’s AI-powered automation roadmap, enabling the firm to keep pace with evolving customer demands and scale its solutions to support increasingly complex maritime workflows.

Marcura’s objective is to deliver AI-powered tools that integrate seamlessly into the daily operations of maritime professionals, helping them improve efficiency, accuracy, and confidence in their work.

This acquisition follows Marcura’s recent purchase of UK-based tanker demurrage claims automation provider HubSE. The company’s specialized expertise in oil and chemical tanker claims has since been incorporated into Marcura Claims, formerly known as ClaimsHub.

Marcura has been expanding its portfolio through a series of strategic acquisitions. Just last month, the company acquired maritime software provider VesselMan from Skagerak Capital, and prior to that, it added ShipServ, an online procurement platform, to its growing suite of solutions.
