Tsakos has been linked to acquiring five contemporary tankers through an agreement with Viken Shipping, a Norwegian company.

The Greek proprietor has recently acquired ownership of a fleet of vessels. This includes the 2023-built LNG dual-fuel LR2s, Angleviken and Askviken, along with the 2018-built Aframax vessel Breiviken and its 2019-built counterpart, Eikeviken. Additionally, the 2018-built suezmax vessel Morviken is part of this acquisition, as reported by MB Shipbrokers, formerly known as Maersk Broker.

No specific price has been disclosed for the ships linked to a charter contract with the French energy corporation TotalEnergies. Nevertheless, VesselsValue approximates the collective value of the five vessels at around $390 million.

Additional information regarding the agreement remains undisclosed, and it is unclear whether it pertains to Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN), a tanker and LNG owner based in New York and associated with the Tsakos group. TEN manages a fleet of 68 ships, including those currently in construction.

Regarding Viken, the collective transaction results in the company retaining two chemical carriers and a set of five contemporary Aframax shuttle tankers.
