In the early hours of March 18, the LNG tanker SM Kestrel collided with the anchored bulk carrier Diamond Star II at the western anchorage of the Bay of Gibraltar. The incident took place around 1:00 AM local time as SM Kestrel was maneuvering for departure and made contact with Diamond Star II

Both vessels, which sail under the Panama flag, sustained minor damage but remained at anchor. No injuries were reported, and there was no environmental impact from the collision.

Surveyors from the vessels' Class and Flag authorities are set to inspect the ships as soon as possible. Additionally, officials from the Gibraltar Maritime Administration (GMA) will conduct a Port State Control inspection.

SM Kestrel is an LNG carrier owned by Korea Line, while Diamond Star II is a bulk carrier managed from Dubai. Marine traffic data indicates that both vessels remain at Gibraltar West Anchorage.
