Livestock Carrier Runs Aground at Croatian Port Entrance
A livestock carrier, Deala, became stranded at the entrance to Rasa Port on Tuesday, April 16th. The Ministry of the Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure of Tanzania reported that the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. local time at the Croatian port. The vessel, carrying 15 crew members of Egyptian nationality, encountered difficulties.
Fortunately, no crew members were injured during the event, and there have been no reports of environmental pollution following the grounding.
Approximately half an hour before the incident, the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) received a call for assistance from a tugboat, prompted by strong winds and fears that the vessel might run aground.
The Deala, measuring 79 meters in length and 13 meters in width, is registered under the Tanzanian flag. The ship is owned and operated by Deala Shipping Co., Ltd., based in Istanbul, Turkey.
