On Thursday, Ambrey, a UK-based security company, disclosed an assault on a commercial ship positioned 109 nautical miles south of Nishtun, Yemen.

The attack targeted the Yamilah III, a Liberian-flagged tanker operated by a firm from the UAE. The tanker was approached by a small boat with four armed attackers. The Yamilah III's onboard security personnel engaged the assailants, repelling the attack without any damage to the vessel. This incident was verified on the same day by the UK Maritime Trade Operations.

A similar event unfolded on Wednesday, involving the bulk carrier New Leonidas, which encountered a suspicious boat 160 nautical miles southeast of Salalah, Oman. The carrier's crew spotted armed figures on the approaching boat, equipped with a ladder. Security forces on the New Leonidas discharged warning shots, effectively deterring the aggressors and preventing any hostile engagement.
