On September 4, at approximately 2:15 PM local time, a tugboat, Oshio, went down in Singapore's Eastern Anchorage, within the port limits. The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), working alongside the Police Coast Guard and the Singapore Civil Defence Force, initiated a rescue operation to locate the missing crew members from the sunken vessel.

The Oshio had two crew members on board when it sank. One of them was rescued by the Police Coast Guard and was rushed to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to the MPA.

Efforts to locate the remaining crew member are ongoing. Salvage divers were deployed to verify the tugboat's position as part of the recovery operation. Authorities confirmed there was no pollution detected in the surrounding waters.
