On Thursday, July 25th, the cargo ship JSW Raigad ran aground near Kolaba Fort in India. The Indian Coast Guard received an emergency call from the ship, which had 14 crew members on board, stating that it had become stranded on the rocks due to adverse weather conditions.

In response, the Coast Guard quickly collaborated with the Raigad District Administration to carry out a rescue operation. The rocky terrain around Kolaba Fort posed challenges, delaying the Coast Guard's immediate access to the ship.

On July 26th, the Indian Coast Guard deployed a helicopter to evacuate all 14 crew members from the JSW Raigad. The rescue operation was successful, and the crew members were safely brought ashore at Alibag Beach.

A spokesperson for JSW explained that the JSW Raigad had drifted due to strong winds and poor visibility. The Indian-flagged vessel built in 2015, had departed from Dharamtar on July 25th and was en route to Jaigad Port, with an expected arrival on July 26th, according to Marine Traffic data.
