Japanese Ferry Runs Aground in Hokkaido Harbor

On Tuesday July 2 a ferry, the Silver Breeze, with 140 passengers and crew members on board, ran aground in the West Harbor of Tomakomai, Hokkaido. The vessel was nearing the harbor when its bow struck a submerged wave block.
MarineTraffic data indicates that the incident occurred shortly after 1:00 am, and by around 2:40 am, the ferry resumed its journey to Muroran.
The 8,901-ton ferry had departed from Hachinohe Port in Aomori Prefecture on July 1. Fortunately, all passengers and crew members were unharmed, and no flooding or oil leaks were reported.
