Spanish maritime rescue services airlifted a British cruise passenger from Sky Princess on Wednesday evening after she experienced a medical emergency while the ship was sailing off the country’s northern coast.

The woman, who was reportedly suffering from a heart condition, was evacuated by helicopter approximately five nautical miles southwest of Cape Silleiro in the Galicia region.

She was transported to Álvaro Cunqueiro Hospital in Vigo for immediate treatment. Authorities have not released further information regarding her current condition.

At the time of the incident, Sky Princess had recently departed Vigo and was en route to Funchal, Madeira, as part of a 12-night Mediterranean cruise that began in Southampton. The itinerary also includes calls in the Canary Islands before the ship heads back to the UK via Lisbon.
