Gas Tanker Grounds Off Koh Larn, No Leaks Reported

In the early hours of March 25, the gas tanker NP Bangpakong ran aground off the coast of Koh Larn, Thailand.
The vessel was en route from Bang Pakong District in Chachoengsao Province to Map Ta Phut Port in Rayong Province when the incident took place. According to the ship’s captain, the grounding happened while attempting to avoid a collision with a nearby fishing boat.
Local authorities quickly responded to the scene and confirmed that there were no leaks of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) or marine fuel from the vessel.
The ship’s owners have deployed the tugboat Map Ta Phut to assist in freeing the tanker from the rocky area where it became stuck. In addition, a team of engineers and technicians has been dispatched to carry out a detailed inspection of the vessel’s condition.
An official investigation is currently underway, and local residents have been reassured that the grounded tanker does not pose any immediate threat to safety or the environment.
