Search On for Missing Seafarer in Singaporean Waters
Efforts to find a crew member who went missing from Utopia, a bulk carrier, in the waters off Singapore in the early morning of 15 March are still underway.
The Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) reported that the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Singapore received an alert about a crew member falling overboard from the Liberian-flagged bulk carrier named Utopia, a Greek-owned vessel with a deadweight of 65,000 tons.
“MPA, the Police Coast Guard, and the Singapore Civil Defence Force have mobilized their resources to conduct a search for the individual within the Singapore Port Limits. MPA is also broadcasting safety notices to mariners and is asking ships in the area and in port to be vigilant and report any sightings to MRCC Singapore,” stated the port authority.
