Disney Cruise Line has announced plans for a new series of smaller, eco-friendly ships. Three of the four upcoming vessels will be approximately 100,000 gross registered tons, each designed to host 3,000 passengers. The fourth ship will be a Wish-class vessel, with a capacity of 4,000 guests, powered by LNG.

Scheduled for delivery between 2027 and 2031, these ships will run on alternative fuels, including methanol and hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), aligning with Disney’s sustainability initiatives. They will also be equipped with shore power connectivity and energy-efficient features, offering lighter designs, innovative onboard experiences, and access to environmentally conscious destinations.

Philip Gennotte of Walt Disney Imagineering highlighted the sustainability focus, saying, “Guests will see the difference — from a more hydrodynamic design to lighter materials and energy-efficient technology throughout.”

Once these ships join the fleet, Disney Cruise Line will have 13 vessels, including Disney Adventure, set to debut in 2025 as the brand’s first ship to homeport in Asia. This expansion showcases Disney’s dedication to innovation and environmental responsibility within the cruise industry.
