Hapag-Lloyd Acquires Majority Stake in Le Havre Terminal

Hanseatic Global Terminals (HGT), the terminal and infrastructure division of Hapag-Lloyd, has purchased a 60% stake in CNMP (Compagnie Nouvelle de Manutentions Portuaires), the operator of Atlantique container terminal in Le Havre, France.
The remaining 40% ownership in CNMP will stay with Seafrigo Group, a company specializing in temperature-controlled food logistics.
Le Havre is among Europe’s top 10 ports, handling approximately 3 million TEU annually, with expectations of continued growth, particularly in the reefer container sector.
The financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.
Dheeraj Bhatia, CEO of Hanseatic Global Terminals, stated: “By acquiring a majority stake in the CNMP terminal in Le Havre, we are strengthening our position in one of our core European markets. At the same time, we are continuing to expand our global terminal portfolio while paving the way for targeted investments to enhance efficiency. The transaction will therefore directly contribute to the vigorous realisation of our Strategy 2030.”
Hanseatic Global Terminals currently operates 20 terminals across 11 countries and aims to increase its network to over 30 terminals by 2030.
