Intermodal and Golden Destiny, two prominent Greek shipbroking firms, have officially merged, marking the latest step in the ongoing consolidation trend within the shipbroking sector.

According to Michail Kokkinis, founder of Golden Destiny, the merger is about more than just operational efficiency. “This collaboration is beyond an operational consolidation, as like-minded seasoned professionals with a great depth of know-how and network are joining forces to improve on the level of service, adapting to the changes in the industry as dictated by the market forces,” he stated.

As part of the merger, Golden Destiny’s team has already relocated to Intermodal's offices, solidifying the integration of the two firms' operations.

The shipbroking industry has seen a wave of consolidation over the past decade, with several high-profile mergers taking place. Notable examples include ICAP Shipping’s merger with Howe Robinson, Clarksons’ acquisition of RS Platou, and Simpson Spence Young’s purchase of Anchor Shipbroking. Other key deals include the merging of Braemar with ACM Shipping and the unification of IFCHOR with Galbraiths.

This latest move by Intermodal and Golden Destiny underscores the ongoing shift toward larger, more unified broking entities as firms seek to remain competitive in an evolving maritime market.
