German shipowner Elbdeich Reederei has finalized orders for two additional containerships from Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard in China, reinforcing its fleet expansion strategy.

Fleet Expansion with New 1,900 TEU Vessels

According to industry brokers, the Drochtersen-based company has exercised its options for two 1,900 TEU newbuilds, following an initial order for two similar vessels earlier this year. The newly ordered ships are valued at approximately $32.3 million each and are scheduled for delivery in 2027.

Growing Presence in the Market

Elbdeich Reederei currently operates a fleet of more than 30 vessels and continues to expand its portfolio with additional orders. The company has also placed an order for 1,300 TEU methanol dual-fuel containerships at the same CSSC-affiliated shipyard, with deliveries expected in 2026.

These environmentally friendly vessels are backed by DP World-controlled feeder operator Unifeeder, reflecting the industry’s ongoing transition towards more sustainable shipping solutions.
