On November 18, a fire broke out on the cruise vessel Orient Princess in Tianjin, China. Authorities have confirmed that the blaze has been extinguished, and no injuries were reported.

The fire started around 2:00 PM local time and was promptly tackled by emergency responders, who managed to bring it under control by 3:00 PM. According to the vessel’s management, the fire was sparked during ongoing renovation work when insulation material caught fire.

Originally constructed as a cruise ship in December 1966 under the name Yao Hua, the Orient Princess has undergone significant changes over the years. After being seized by authorities in 2003 due to legal issues, it was acquired by a new Chinese company and converted into a stationary accommodation vessel.

Now permanently moored in Tianjin, the ship serves as a tourist attraction and features two restaurants built on its deck.
