A crane accident at the Tinnemans Shipbuilding facility on Industrieweg in Maasbracht, Netherlands, led to injuries and damage to a vessel named Rimini.

The incident occurred on April 15 at approximately 11:45 AM local time, while maintenance work was underway on the ship.

The crane unexpectedly snapped in two and fell, with part of the structure landing on the vessel’s deck. Two workers operating the crane were injured during the collapse. Emergency response teams, including police, fire services, and a trauma helicopter, were quickly dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters successfully rescued the injured workers, who were then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, a third-party contractor has been brought in to handle the removal and recovery of the collapsed crane.

The Dutch Labour Inspectorate has opened an investigation to determine what led to the incident.
