A man was detained in Aruba after he tried to board the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Oasis of the Seas with a firearm, according to local media. The incident occurred on February 26 while the vessel was docked in Oranjestad, Aruba.

During routine security screening, the ship’s security team discovered a revolver in the possession of a male passenger attempting to board. This discovery immediately set off established security protocols, leading to his arrest at the port.

Local news outlet MasNoticia reported that it remains uncertain whether the individual purchased the firearm locally or already had it in his possession prior to boarding. Due to the seriousness of the situation, the ship’s security promptly informed the authorities.

Aruban police responded swiftly. A patrol unit arrived at the scene, detained the suspect, and transported him to the investigative department for further questioning. Forensic specialists from the technical department documented the firearm with photographs before confiscating it as evidence.

Authorities have not yet released further details regarding potential charges or the identity of the detained individual. The Oasis of the Seas continued on its scheduled itinerary following the incident.
