A fire that was first reported on January 27 aboard the bulk carrier Lowlands Diamond remains active, according to the latest update.

Authorities have confirmed that the crew is safe, and the Port of Aberdeen in the United Kingdom has reassured the public that the fire does not pose any risk to the wider community.

The vessel docked at South Harbor, Dunnottar Quay on January 22nd. A blaze ignited in the cargo hold, and firefighting crews are currently working to bring it under control.

Emergency responders have stated that they are in the process of clearing out the ship’s cargo hold to fully extinguish the fire. While officials estimate that it may take several more days to completely put it out, they have confirmed that the fire is contained to one hold and does not threaten the ship or surrounding areas.
