Ports of Stockholm has kicked off its 2024 cruise season with the arrival of the AIDAmar, a vessel from AIDA Cruises, at Stockholm on Tuesday, April 16. This ship docked as part of its four-night circular cruise originating from Warnemunde, Germany on April 14.

Over the season, which extends until October's end, 121 cruise ships are expected to visit. The anticipated traffic and passenger numbers are projected to mirror those of 2023.

Stefan Scheja, the marketing manager for ferries and cruises at Ports of Stockholm, expressed enthusiasm about Stockholm's sustained appeal as a top cruise destination. He highlighted the cruise industry's commitment to sustainability, noting efforts to upgrade fleets with environmentally friendly technology.

This season will also see first-time visits from several ships, including TUI Cruises' Mein Schiff 7 and Cunard's Queen Anne.

In a significant move towards environmental conservation, Ports of Stockholm is constructing an onshore power supply facility at Stadsgården quay, slated to be one of the first such installations in Europe and expected to be operational within the year.
