Electric Passenger Vessel Launched by Pyxis in Singapore
On March 27, 2024, Pyxis unveiled its electric port passenger vessel, X TRON, during a launch event at Clifford Pier in Singapore. The ceremony was attended by 300 guests, including officials from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
The MPA took to social media to commend Pyxis for introducing the X TRON, marking it as the first among the company's upcoming fleet of electric port passenger vessels. This environmentally friendly, battery-powered boat has the capacity to cover up to 50 nautical miles and will commence operations from Marina South Pier.
Earlier, in January 2024, the MPA selected Pyxis Energy, Pyxis Maritime, and SP Mobility, alongside Seatrium O&G (International) and Yinson Electric, in response to their innovative proposals for vessel charging solutions in Singapore. This decision was part of MPA's initiative to encourage the development of electric harbor craft (e-HC) charging infrastructure in the area.
The MPA has expressed its eagerness for future innovations and partnerships aimed at fostering a secure, efficient, and economically sustainable ecosystem for electric harbor crafts.
Furthermore, towards the end of 2023, Pyxis Maritime joined forces with the Japanese shipping giant Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) to spearhead the development and promotion of electric vessels (EV) in Singapore. This collaboration is set to facilitate the broader adoption of electric vessels in Japan, aligning with the maritime industry's ambition to attain zero emissions.
