On October 8, a crane collapsed onto a vessel at Odisha's Paradip Port, resulting in damage to the ship and injuries to the crane operator.

The accident occurred at the mechanized bulk cargo berth during cargo unloading from the vessel AMNSI Maximus. As the crane was in operation, its boom suddenly broke and crashed onto the ship.

While the crane's fall caused alarm, all 21 crewmembers aboard the vessel were unharmed. Workers near the scene also narrowly avoided injury, but the crane operator was reportedly hurt. The severity of the operator's injuries has not been disclosed, though reports indicate they received immediate medical attention.

The crane, owned by Bothra Shipping Corporation, was being used to unload limestone and dolomite. Local sources suggest the accident was due to the crane being overloaded beyond its capacity.

An investigation is now underway, with the port authorities and Bothra Shipping Corporation looking into the cause of the incident.
